Rural Retreat – Haslemere

The house sits in an elevated position, with a steeply sloping garden which felt very separate from the house above it.

Our client was a very keen gardener and re-modelling the garden was a key part of the project as the house was substantially extended.

The swimming pool adjacent to the house was renovated and the terrace paved with limestone paving. Areas of un-used grass were heavily planted to give the feel of being surrounded by the garden rather than being separate from it.

Two new seating areas were added adjacent to the pool, one for dining and entertaining, the other a more sheltered area ideal for sunbathing and relaxing. New trees were planted for seasonal interest and screening.

The bank was graduated and opened out with swathes of perennial planting to give a prarie-like feel, joining the house and upper pool area to the lower garden.

Woven steel edging was used to edge the new gravel path and a new lower seating terrace was created with a weathered urn water-feature, an ideal spot to read a book or survey the garden.

At the front of the house, the old drive was replaced and new clay pavers we used to make a stunning, more period style pathway to the oak-framed porch.
